Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Plumbing Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for plumbing commercial projects. This role offers top-tier compensation to attract skilled professionals with expertise in plumbing systems, cost analysis, and project bidding.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for plumbing and gas systems.
- Calculate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs to develop comprehensive bid proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements and ensure accurate estimates.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
- Prepare and present detailed bid proposals, including scope of work, cost breakdowns, and timelines.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options without compromising quality.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Track and update estimating databases with current pricing and project data.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-bid reviews as needed.
- Ensure all estimates align with project budgets and client expectations.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Plumbing Estimator or in a similar role within the plumbing or construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, gas, and HVAC-related plumbing.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills for precise cost calculations.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills for working with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Familiarity with local and national plumbing codes and regulations.
- Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred: Certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar.
- Ability to visit job sites as needed, which may involve walking, climbing, or working in various conditions.
- Comfortable working in an office environment with extended periods of computer use.
